He was the Director of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.
He worked as Chairman of the Department of Cardiology at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket for over six years.
He is a former Chairman of the Medical Council of India and has advised multiple national academic and healthcare bodies.
