He is the Chairman of the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatobiliary Sciences at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram.
He is a nationally eminent gastroenterologist, medical educator, researcher, columnist, and philanthropist.
He received his medical training from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
He was the first in India to introduce Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Extra Corporeal Shockwave Biliary Lithotripsy (ESWL).
He transformed the Gastroenterology Department at SGPGIMS, Lucknow into one of the top five in the country.
He has played a major leadership role in advancing liver and digestive healthcare in India.
He has served on the boards of multiple scientific bodies and medical journals.
He is a former President of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology and is widely regarded as a revered teacher.
He has over 200 scientific publications, numerous awards, and prestigious orations to his credit.
He has extensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex liver and GI diseases and is a skilled endoscopist.
